Prof. Dr. Mona Mehrez Ali
Director of Animal Health Research Institute
I am truly honored as the general trustee of "The 3rd Scientific Conference of Animal Wealth Research in the Middle East & North Africa" to give the welcome and greeting to our distinguished guests and colleges who participate in this event. In fact, further challenges were added to the workers in the field of animal production because of subsequent crisis that affects deleteriously animal production systems, economics and planning. Among the most important crisis was human trend to produce bio-fuel from animal feed resources adding more obstacles against development of the animal wealth. AS expected, the increased production of bio-fuel affected not only animal farming and industry but also affected market prices of animal products. These impacts were greatly observed in developing countries so that human consumption of animal protein resources may be subjected to be minimized. This action was followed by another international crisis of the pandemic avian flu and H1N1 flue.
Therefore, I think that our meeting shall through light on proper scientific speculation to overcome impacts of the current crisis. This would include efforts to control hazards of animal diseases and infectious diseases in particular to protect animal wealth. In addition, application of new technologies aiming to maintain animal health and to improve its productivity became of utmost importance.
With best wishes for all participants and guests.
